Boat races

After a great evening of hearing stories from grandpa, (who's a great storyteller, and has great stories), and Grandma's amazing chocolate malts, (they are the best ever!), we all crashed late into bed. Cameron is up early with Grandpa, and we eventually all got up. We weren't sure if we'd have time to fit in boat races at the creek, but decided to just do it. RD started to make a boat lane, and Grandpa helped the kids make their own boats in his shop. The kids loved working in his shop, Reese said that was his favorite part of the day. Grandpa let them hammer, tie, tape etc themselves, helping them when they wanted it. Grandpa made a boat with a string for Bree so she could pull it back, which she loved.

We put the boats out on the water, and Grace won the first race! Reese managed to win at least one, and they all had fun floating their boats.
So glad we could squeeze that in before we had to head home! RD has great memories in that creek growing up, and loves to play there with the kids. We love visiting them; Reese asked if we could spend all summer there, or at least come back after Cameron's arrow of light ceremony ( which we'd gone home for). It also was a relief and break from the heat;  it was much cooler than Springville, so we could play outside all day.
