Saturdays and Stink Bugs
RD here, making my annual post. Debbie's been doing a great job keeping up on this blog! This past Saturday was great due to no longer having any soccer! The morning was filled with the annual pool party in the community that was having free hot dogs and pop, so we drove over there at 10:30, to make sure we got all the free goodies, though it was still to cold to actually swim. Reese had at least 3 hotdogs! There were jump houses as well which the kids enjoyed. The Forest Fire Department was on hand giving out swag and all the kids got to climb up in their new off-road fire truck and use the hose to spray/knock off baseballs balancing on cones, even Grace... it was great fun. The afternoon consisted of me weed-wacking and mowing the lawn, and the kids playing around. I came in the house to find Debbie stretched out on the couch, watching Kate and Leopold, classic chick flick. She looked up at me, with a look of guilt in her eyes, and for some reason asked if it was ok to be watching a movie and I replied, "Of course it is, it's called a Saturday, where we can actually relax... this is why we have Saturdays!" She is so funny. Her typical Saturdays consist of either soccer games or cramming in all the errands we haven't been able to do during the week, so I was really happy that she was enjoying a REAL Saturday! That evening I took Reese, Cameron and Grace swimming, despite the wind. It was chilly and there were only a few who had braved it as well, but we all had fun. Aubree has been sick for the last 3 days and after Church today she zonked out for a bit. When she woke up, she wanted to drive in the car so we drove around, looking at houses, saw a big ole' antelope and returned home. I went on a walk with all the kids to let Debbie rest as she's sick as well and we found a stink bug, which caught everyone's attention, even Aubree. As we broached its personal bubble, we were threatened a number times with its toxic fumes but it lowered its gun as we retreated. It must have been memorable because Reese, in his evening prayer, thanked Heavenly Father "for the good times he had with the family tonight and playing with the stink bug!"
