Seafood Festival

The second annual seafood festival had even more stuff than last year, and was so fun!!
The kids loved getting candy at the parade, and we had fun seeing friends in it, like our wonderful friend dressed as a seahorse... she is so awesome.
The kids also loved the handful of carnival games, and getting hot dogs, while we enjoyed some Filipino kabobs, sweet rice, and egg rolls. There were many booths and displays, and a seafood theme wedding cake contest, as well as some of the pieces from the Wearable Arts show in March. There was a performance by an aerial silk trapeze artist, the Naa Kahidi Dancers, and NAD, and we also saw a rescue demonstration by the coast guard, which is always cool and amazing. And reminds us of Brett Banks.
The kids did well enough that we got to stick around long enough to see the fish head toss contest; lots of slimy halibut heads. It went pretty quick, it looked hard to hold onto those things!
In honor of the day, we came home and made coconut shrimp for dinner, one of my favorites!!! It was so nice to get out and have some fun as a family. Isn't Sitka cool?!

Sitka is cool! I think I want this recipe for coconut shrimp. Sounds so delicious!
