Sitka National Historical Park Totem Pole raising

To mark the end of the year of celebrating the centennial of Totem Park, there was a raising of a Totem Pole carved and painted under the direction of Tommy Joseph, a master Tlingit carver in charge of the carving shop at the cultural center. There were a lot of community members there, and it was so cool they let anybody and everybody help raise the totem. RD, Reese, Cameron and Grace all helped pull the rope, it was really neat to be there for that. The next week, when I went with Cameron's class on their field trip to the beach at Totem Park, I overheard him proudly tell his friend that he helped raise it.
