5 years?!

We can hardly believe it, but Aubree is 5! She's been SO excited about her birthday. Unfortunately it comes soon after the 4th of  July, and some of the friends she wanted to invite over were our of town that week, so we ended up having a family party.
She was ok with it, but very specifically wanted a princess cake and a pinata. And lots of presents. To be honest, she was a little disappointed in the amount of presents, but Grace rocked it and doubled the amount of gifts, then Cameron pitched in one, which helped. Grace had kept Aubree's birthday in mind when redeeming points she'd earned all year, and had gotten two great gifts for Bree, that were perfect; glitter glue and a ukulele. Bree was also excited to get Legos, her one specific request, but not so sure about her new bike. She's warmed up to it, but hasn't quite got it down yet.

It was finally time for the pinata. She really just wanted to get all the candy herself, but we kept reminding her she had to share, and was persuaded. It was one of the kind that has strings you pull, but it didn't work very well. RD ended up holding it up and shaking all the candy out. Seems like that happens with almost every pinata. We should just skip the $15 and just throw candy.

Her siblings left her the lion's share, and trading commenced while we got ready for cake. She loved the princess cake, especially "the enchanted rose"  made of frosting. She wanted that piece, and ate only the rose. She's a frosting girl.
She's excited to be five, but a little nervous and excited to start kindergarten this year. She's going to rock it, we love her so much!
