Easter

This year we did a lot better preparing our kids for the most glorious day of the year! During our family devotional time, we talked/read/watched events in Jesus Christ's last week on earth, and principles He taught us. We even had a couple great questions from the boys on different nights, about how Jesus' grace and redemption works, and if trying is enough, sparking great discussions. And of course I was way more excited about the topic than they, so they ended in some head rolling and sighs. But they asked!
Of course they still enjoyed dyeing eggs,
and getting a basket of goodies (the easter bunny doesn't come to our house, but parents do). Cameron got a paddleball, that RD was very good with. Reese couldn't handle having dad beat him, and it turned into a rivalry, but RD kept beating Reese's record. Then Bree broke it. Probably better, but a bummer for Cameron.
And the much-anticipated candy-filled-egg hunt.

Aubree loved it so much, she went back out and hid empty eggs, then ran around 'finding' them again. and again and again. She was adorable. And excited every time!
Church was great, we have a religion professor at  BYU in our congregation, and he gave a great talk. Reese remarked 'it was actually really interesting', which is pretty impressive coming from a teenager.
We decided to continue our tradition of fish and bread from Christmas into Easter, cause it's appropriate, easy, and awesome. I keep asking RD about having lamb, but that's too weird for him. Especially when it's the halibut RD caught in Sitka last summer.
This is so them
I tried making pavlovas for the first time the day before Easter. They bake on low for awhile, and I forgot about them and went out with RD for a couple HOURS running errands, and when we came back RD asked me about them... AAhhh! They had become rather toasted meringues, but it turned out ok. Reese even mentioned 3 times he was excited about having them! That rarely happens, so I was happy about that. The kids didn't want the berries on top of theirs, so we used some peeps on top, and Grace put one of her eggs under her chicken. Pretty cute.
I love spring is the season He chose for this event; what beauty and hope surrounds us.
