Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is an awesome holiday, good food, great meaning, family time, and not much stress. Especially when we get to share the food prep with the Beans.
RD started the day early, taking Cameron fishing on the Provo river.  The cold drove them home soon, but Cameron said it went well, since he got sour gummies on the way home.
RD was a superhero and was willing to spatchcock the turkey, which I wanted to try.  Our niece was able to come, and we all hung out as we cooked the food. Our kids enjoy playing with James, though Bree can be a tiny bit bossy (who knew!). Seeing the boys helping James stomp and slide on the few patches of ice in the grass was so cute.  The kids were having fun playing Pathfinder, Aubree and James were filling up on apples, peanut butter and nutella, as we finished up cooking.
We were about to eat, all the veggies and sides steaming hot, when we discovered the turkey that I'd assumed was done, wasn't quite done. Everyone was gracious, and we started eating all the delicious sides as the turkey went back in the oven. Grateful for these peeps!
The turkey was done for round two, which worked out ok. By then the kids were long gone, having had a roll or three and maybe skimmed the marshmallows off the top of their serving of sweet potatoes; all the kids asked "what's that!" when they saw the marshmallows, and a few even tried it after finding out what it was. Grace did come back to devour a leg.

We all eventually waddled over to the couches, after RD had to stuff his stuffing in,  and even made it to the floor to play a round of ImaginIff,
Reese and Juliana lead the pack to the finish, before we went back for the focal point of the feast.Pie.
and whipping cream.

The Beans and Leah had to leave, with lots of hugs from James. Then we watched Winter Thaw (adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's story Martin the Cobbler), which was very well done, and Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving (not so well done, but traditional).

Sounds like a great day. Thanks for sharing it (then and now, again).
