and Break!

We were all ready for a break come the week of Thanksgiving! I was so excited to have everyone home (especially RD).
RD has been looking forward to fishing the Provo during the sweet spawn time in the cold of November at the 'secret spot'. November hasn't been very cold, but RD was still going to try. He finally used his saved-up gift cards for some heathen waders (as in not-holey), and tied some egg patterns for the first time in years and years. He woke up in the wee hours, and left to get to the spot before anyone else. He sat in the car for an hour and a half, as no one else came, till it got light enough to see a bit. And found out no one else was coming cause the 'secret spot' is now a 'private property- no trespassing' spot.
Dashed hopes.
But he explored around a bit and caught a couple bigger browns, and hooked a huge rainbow, and found a hole to take Cameron to the next morning.

We had surprised Reese with a ticket to see Fantastic Beasts with us on wednesday, and RD got home just in time to get ready and go.
Going somewhere with those two was a ton of fun. It can be so fun to have a teenager and share interests! The movie was good, but  more intense/darker than I expected.
We came back and I made pies, the boys read and Aubree napped, and RD took Grace on a date ice-skating. We sometimes go a month or more between dates with kids, but we got three done in two days!

When they got home we had dinner, and spent the evening drinking cocoa, snuggling by the fire, and singing as RD played the ukulele. To top it all off for the kids, it started snowing, and Grace and Cameron immediately donned their snow gear (either ripped or 6 inches too short, woops) to go make a snowman. Padfoot rushed around in the snow, biting at it and slipping around, as Aubree joined them for a short time. They somehow managed to make a recognizable snowman from the dusting of snow.

Padfoot obliterated it the next morning.
What a great start!
