Lewis Farms

One morning we all (minus voluntary absences from the teenagers) headed to Lewis Farms, which is kind of like Thanksgiving point for Utah valley locals, but way better; way more to do, and you get to pet the animals.

"It's too bright, we can't look up!"
The animals were the first thing we saw, which the kids all gravitated towards. There were lots of goats, some donkeys, and some camels, alpacas, fallow deer, and lots of different fowl, all available to touch and pat. The kids seemed to like the goats the most, and while they were very aggressive to get feed pellets, they were the nicest gentlest goats I've ever met. If you didn't have food, they still came over to get pet, no nibbling or biting. Aubree was still too nervous to actually feed them, so she'd put the food on the wood fence for them to reach. She seemed happy enough with that arrangement, but she did gather her courage to pet the donkey eventually.

After we wandered through the animals, there were a bunch of games to play, water duck races, an inflated pillow to jump on (which lasted about 30 seconds in the muggy heat), bikes to ride, and the hands-down favorite slide.

Finding shade was the adult activity.

The littler kids started out running up the hill to go down the slide, then as their cheeks got red and hair matted with sweat, they started to walk, but they kept going. Aubree insisted on RD going down with her most of the time, which was super nice of him; they were pretty small tubes. But she loved it.

RD also showed Grace how to throw a lasso, lassoing the cow-post in one throw. Isn't he amazing!?

We had several bottles of water with us, but it wasn't cold enough for some, so they went off to the drinking fountain with Grandpa while Bree kept going down that slide. Most everyone was going for one last ride on the train, so we gathered the girls together to follow. We had the whole train filled with our littles, and still had more not riding. They got a ride through a bit of their orchard, which was shaded at least!
We had to pass through their shop as we left, and ended up heading out with some of their peaches and novelty popping corn, but managed to avoid the fudge. Exhausting but fun!!
