Ghoulish gourds

A week before Halloween we went to the Broadway produce stand to pick up some pumpkins. We thought about visiting Linder Farms, but soccer games and naps on Saturday make that hard. So Aubree checked out the 'scary' monster inflatable, and tried to put ALL the little pumpkins in our wagon. We ended up limiting her to 4. Yes, she's spoiled.

So a few nights later we got out the root beer and carved the gourds. RD had given up doing his own pumpkin this year, since in the past he did most of the cleaning our and carving for all the kids. This year the three older kids did almost all the work themselves, just needing a bit of help, which was awesome! He even managed to open up the biggest of Aubree's little ones, and she scooped out the innards.
I avoided having to cut or scoop by making caramel apples for everyone (except Reese, who declined in favor of a donut). We kept it simple this year, and we all had caramel, white chocolate, and oreos. Cameron actually tried the caramel apple this year, but after half the apple decided Granny smith's were too tart even with all that candy, and peeled it off the apples to eat alone.
It's hard to see, but there are nails in the side of the head of Grace's monster head. They did a great job doing it themselves! and it was way more fun for RD :)

That's FCB for FC Barcelona... guess who's that is?!

Did you get to see any pumpkins shot from cannons? That was a highlight for me -- I bet the kids and RD would like it too!
