We drove past some pullout in a big cherry orchard, and turned back around. We're here! We got buckets, and were immediately into the black sweet cherries. Most of the kids had fun climbing the trees, and RD did too :)
We got a couple pounds, and wanted to head over to the raspberry/strawberry patch and petting farm. The animals were a huge hit. The cat got a lot of attention, as well as the baby goats we watched feed and got to pet.
My favorite was the large draft horse, and I loved my tiny horse fix. Grace was so excited to pet the horses, but was a little nervous of how close he was to us, rubbing his nose against us, until I explained draft horses are bred to be gentle. They are pretty big when you're only 7. I could have stayed there, but we came for fruit, so we headed out to the fields.
The raspberries were, bluntly, a pain to pick. All the easily reached ones had been picked already, so it was tough to find any ripe ones. We ended up only being able to mostly fill 2 pints.
We hurried over to the strawberry patch. The strawberries were saturated with sweet strawberry goodness that we savored. We could have spent some more time in that field! We should have gotten another container.
We left to go home for a late lunch, and played on the beach again while kids napped. Naps happened a lot, but Aubree never did get a good one until Friday. She was hence rather ornery all week, but there was so much going on that was fun and distracting she wasn't too difficult.
Cousins were lots of fun for the kids. Jake had a green army men set that he shared playing with Cameron and Reese that ended up becoming an awesome, massive, in-depth battlefield. Ava and Grace made up songs and dances, and Reese attached himself to James.
