Carnival!

Friday was the annual Carnival at our elementary school! It was our second time attending, and we were excited! Reese volunteered to run a shift, so he was given the stand-a-bottle booth to run. Cameron was his first customer! and Reese did not show any favoritism.

Grace's first stop was the face-painting booth. She wanted a horse, but was happy to get a butterfly (easier for the volunteer painter!) We met up with some friends, we were going to trade taking the girls around, but she ended up having them both all evening. And it was so much fun for Grace and easier for us. Woohoo! They were fun together.

While Reese was running the booth we went around with Cameron and a couple his friends, but he seemed eager to escape our oversight. I think having the carnival at their playground makes them so comfortable, they don't even think about making sure we know where they are. It was a night of wandering around trying to find people. Aubree loved watching the Orbiter 2000 spin and tilt, kids screaming, so RD stayed with her while they ate popcorn while I chased Cameron.

Then we watched Cameron go on the barrel train, and once Aubree saw him go, she wanted to as well.

RD went to volunteer at his shift at the climbing wall, I checked in with the girls, lost Cameron, got Reese, and asked him to take Aubree on the barrel train. He was happy to help, and we waited for a looong time. Aubree was excited, but her expression was hard to decipher. Reese had to scoot all the way back to wedge Aubree in with him, so he took the brunt of all the bumps from the rough-cut barrels in his back for her. He's pretty great. Later the night as she and I passed the train, she told me she went on there with Reese, it was fun, and it was fast. She thought it was pretty cool.

Reese found a buddy to do dart zone with, and was with friends the rest of the night. We'd find and then lose Cameron. I had to get some more tickets. Then go back for some more.
Aubree wanted to go on the big slide like Grace, but was too small, so we got her cotton candy instead. She seemed ok with that.

Bree was getting cold, so I took her home "early", and I tried to get some peanut butter into her sugar-crashing self. She decided the peanut butter was better spread over the table and TWO chairs instead of graham crackers, and then the rest of the kids came home, pockets full of candy and wrappers. Cameron had made sure to visit the dental booth and get a free toothbrush--whoohooo Cameron! There was complaining and snacking, and finally bedtime around 10.
We had a lazy Saturday ALL day to recover. No soccer, no errands. I cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed floors, RD edged the yard, and he and Cameron helped out at a move, and we hung out the whole rest of the day.
It was glorious.
Then we remembered Reese was leaving for EFT for four days and we had to pack. and do two loads of laundry so he could pack.
