Easter Egg Hunt

I love Easter. The magic of spring is in the air, and the same feelings and joy as Christmas abound, but hardly any expectations or obligations. We get a few little gifts for the kids, some candy for an egg hunt, and plan some yummy food, and otherwise rejoice in the hope that comes from the Resurrection and Living Christ. Pretty much perfect.
The egg hunt is probably the kids favorite part. Aubree knew how it worked this year, and she started eating and opening the eggs as she found them. We enforced an egg limit, so she got her share, or else she'd have been left in the dust. We tried to vary the difficulty of the hiding spots, but all the kids spotted at least one difficult one, even Aubree found one between the wasp catcher and the fence, way above her head. We hid them so well, we forgot where two of them were, so we had to give out some extra candy to those who didn't get their egg limit. Still don't know where they are....

they all spot it at the same time
Since we knew our kids would be eating way too much sugar than was good for them, we had luau salad and burgers, so at least they'd eat something, as in part of a burger. It was awesome. With the trip, soccer, general conference, and Easter being so busy that week we never got around to dyeing eggs until the night after Easter. Then several of them were dropped and cracked, and RD's fingers were blue, and the included wax crayon didn't work to prevent dye from adhering.
But Because He Lives, it's all ok. The petty trivial annoyances, the struggle to become better, the short-term problems we overcome, and the life-long trials, will all one day have their end, and in the end, if we choose to follow Christ, it will all be ok. And not just ok, but amazingly, awe-inspiring, majestically glorious. And that's a celebration I want to enjoy more often.
