Tricks or treats

obviously i am catching up, but there were some parts of Halloween i wanted to make sure I remembered. Reese was invited to a friends house for trick or treating, so he tagged along with us and a couple other families for a few minutes, which I think Cameron appreciated, as the other families consisted of girls Grace's age and younger, and one other boy.
he was pretty excited for the party, and it was the first year he wasn't with us for halloween. It was a little sad for me. He will be 12 soon, and time is speeding by, seems like a new phase of friends and independence is coming. Which would probably be scary if he wasn't such a steadfast person.  Reese is good.
But, with Reese going off, we also got to enjoy Aubree's first trick-or-treating. We dressed her up, or i should say, Aubree insisted on dressing up, and she walked along with us as the kids went to the door. She started to catch on that they were getting something, and wanted to go too, which was perhpas inevitable. She still isn't talking that much, so we worried some about her tric-or-treating, but she went up with the kids, and she totally maneuvered her way through kids up to the front, and would say 'thanks'. Cameron was supposed to watch out for her, up and down steps especially, but he often was too caught up in moving to the next house. She was totally adorable, her tiny legs churning as she tried to keep up with the other kids, and her running back excited to put her piece of candy in her bag. When we got home she sat right down and starting unwrapping and eating her candy.
We still dont' have the perfect Halloween system, so for now they can gorge themselves for the first couple days, then it's gone or 1 piece a day, it varies. This was the first year Aubree knew what candy was, and those few days were pretty crazy. She actually got hives, from either too much candy or one of the candies she ate.
I am so glad the candy mania is over!
