One of the funnest things we did was to go where the Boiling River from the Mammoth hot springs run off in to the Gardner River. It was pretty packed, and the kids had a hard time finding a spot near the run-off where the water is warm, but we all (except Bree) at least got a chance to feel the hot water coming into the river.
The boiling river was so hot! The current was pretty fast, but they found a spot that was slower and shallower, and had a lot of fun playing in the river. Grace dunked her head, and Aubree wanted to throw rocks.
RD and I discussed our varying degree of concern over kids being near a strong river current. When we started heading out, Aubree threw a huge fit, and I had to hold her screaming while everyone else got out, got their towels, shoes on, and then we put her in the pack and she calmed as we walked out. But really, it was a lot of fun, and the .5 mile walk was nice.
