Last summer I heard quite a bit about Sandy Point, and RD would tell me about his experiences there. We drove by once, and I was completely underwhelmed with the fountain in a big pond with a small sandy beach around it. We never visited Sandy point last year. I think it seemed too poor a substitute for a real beach, especially after our favorite Sandy Beach. But we finally went to visit it about a week or so ago. The weather was too cool and windy for Reese, and even Cameron and Grace didn't get too wet, but had a lot of fun playing in the sand. At first we sat in the shade while RD took a couple to check out the water, but since it was so cold, we eventually all settled on the sand by the water.
Aubree liked laying down on her towel, and kept getting up and readjusting it to be straight, then carefully lying back down. then switching towels. and she was not ok with sharing a towel.

The kids dug holes and forts, but commented how it wasn't the same as Sitka since there were no waves to protect the forts from. They decided to dig deep to make water filled holes, and Aubree was happy to 'help'. The boys got some help from RD and made a hole about a foot deep. Aubree helped by shoving the sand around the edge back in it. Sitting on the sand next to RD watching the kids dig, haul water, working and playing together, was a moment of peace and happiness. Aubree does Not like the pool, or getting sprayed by the kids if she's too close to a water gun or sprinkler, but RD convinced her to get her feet wet. She was excited to show me her feet in the water. It was actually pretty fun, and I plan on dragging the kids there again this week.
