We went fly fishing the following day and everyone lots success catching 5-8 pound pink salmon. You can tell by the grins on the faces that they had a great time. Definitely beats catching 14 inch rainbows!
Since the sun was out (as it was all week thankfully), we decided to head up to Harbor Mountain. Apparently a bear was observed on the trail earlier that day, luckily we only saw mounds of scat.
I really like this picture of Debbie... she's definitely my mountain woman!!!!
We were able to go and visit the Fortress of the Bear thanks to a friend of ours who is on their Board of Trustees. It was great, the bears were awake this time and we enjoyed some fun pics.
My dad was kind enough to get a charter to go fishing on and we a ton of fun. We saw a whale, caught a sea lion (who had grabbed onto a huge salmon my dad was reeling in, unfortunately the sea lion won! We caught 14 silver Salmon, two halibut, a couple of rock fish and a King Salmon. It was a great time and great memories. Thanks Dad!
Between fishing for more pink salmon, playing settlers, eating at Ludvigs (super yummy!), a couple stops at McDonalds (kiddos favorite), Dad speaking in Church, touring a visiting authentic russian sailing ship "I'm the queen of the world!"(more on that later), great pizza, and just hanging out, we had a awesome time. We really have enjoyed having family up here for the past couple of weeks to share our Sitka life with them, and remember how important family is to us. Thanks everyone for making the sacrifice to come up here! Love you all!
