Tourist in our own town

We got to have my parents come back for a day with my brother Dave, as a stop on their cruise, and it was SO awesome to see them and play tour guide for our town for Dave. We took everyone up to Castle Hill, where the Tlingit and then Russians used as a 'fort' site with it's great view of the area. Then we headed off to Totem park, which you have to see if you come to Sitka! It is celebrating 100 years of being a national park this year! Dave helped the kids reach huckleberries, the boys and grace played tag at the totem site of a Tlingit fort, and watched out for banana slugs (squishy to step on, ugh). Then we went to Starrigavin Bay for Dave and Mom to fish for the pink salmon that are getting ready to spawn. This was their first fish for both of them, fly fishing for alaskan salmon, they had a lot of fun with that I think:) They both caught nice bright silver ones, so they kept one each to cook up for lunch. We managed to squeeze in a trip to Whale Park, but then had to take them back to the dock. We were sad to see them tug away, but it was wonderful to see them for another day. I think my mama looks better in my waders than me! She has gotten into running 10k's etc, and looks so good! Seeing her makes me think I should start running, But hasn't happened yet:)
Grace keeps talking about Grandpa and cruise ships; we love having them come, but it is so sad to know what we are missing.

So fun! They look like they had fun to me as well! I've tried to talk Aaron into going on an Alaskan cruise. We'll see if he says okay sometime.
