Bree's Bash

Aubree no longer lets anyone call her Bree except RD, but I think I can get away with it as a blog title.
After we got back from ID, we celebrated Aubree's birthday! She was so excited about it; she had a list of the presents she wanted, and another paper of the candy she wanted in her pinata, added to over the months. We convinced her to do a family fun day instead of a party so she could get some presents. ;)
She started off eating the marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms we got her. Then we set off to go feed some ducks, her first activity. Cameron joined us for this one. RD took us to one park with a pond; no ducks, but there were a couple swans in a tiny pond on a nearby lot. They hissed at us and we went away.

So we went to another park with a pond; no ducks again, but we did see some turtles and tadpoles!
We decided to go big and went to the Botany pond at BYU, where there were for sure ducks, and we scored big. Lots of ducks, ducklings, and turtles. Aubree loved it.
Aubree was anxious to open presents when she got home, and proceeded quickly from gift to gift. She seemed to like her shimmer/shine dolls and show (which she had never seen before, so I don't know how she came up with the requests).

Renée took a lot longer nap than we expected, and we didn't set off for her much-anticipated-birthday lunch till late. When we got to the Cannon center, and fought for a parking spot, we discovered it had just closed. Nooo! We didn't know their summer hours were different.
Everyone was starving and disappointed. We asked Aubree what she'd like to eat, and she hit on pizza, so one of the kids suggested Pizza Pie Cafe, and she said yes!
So we were stuck going there, where half the kids ate only a few pieces of dessert pizza. for $6-7 each. yeah, it kinda annoyed me.
We went home and Aubree watched her new movie. She loved it.
Then we made "marshmallow creations" that they weren't allowed to eat till the next day, but some mallows still disappeared.
Then Aubree hit her pinata till it was torn apart, then the kids took turns hitting the remaining pieces.
There were starbursts, gum, crunch and chew jolly rancher, and airheads. Most of her candy ended up being made into 'patterns' or creations squished together, then ended up thrown away, but I guess it's better than eating it all.

For dinner she wanted to do the same paid-to-eat-plants meal RD had done before, so we ate a bunch of fruit and veggies, which was pretty refreshing after PPC.
The strawberry cake I made didn't turn out -- I tried combining two recipes cause of ingredients I had on hand, and trying to make it flavored with freeze-dried strawberries instead of jello- the flavor was great, but it was definitely a pancake. :(
So we had ice cream for dessert, and she was totally happy.
In fact, we had so much fun, we had to postpone playing "Don't eat Pete" with blueberries for the next day.
Aubree sure is a character, and we sure love her!
