Reese turned 14 this week. We usually do something on their birthday to celebrate, even if we're doing a party a different day, but this week Reese was in bed sick for three days, including his big day. He voted for all the celebrating on Saturday so he could have a full day of birthday.
He slept in and woke up to a full box of Lucky Charms just for him (and another for the rest of the kids of course). Cameron snuck into his room while Reese was asleep and cleaned his bathroom for him (hard-of-hearing is how he got away with that), and left a note telling him happy birthday. So Reese only had one chore to do that morning.
We all played some games, including poison dart frog and ninja/cowboy/gorilla, (and I won ninja/cowboy/gorilla!). We thought Reese had a futsal game, but then discovered he didn't, which he was kinda bummed about. But they then had some time to play some wii/ipad games till we had mac-n-cheese for lunch and RD took the older three to play laser-tag. They had fun playing together even though there were lots of people there, and it was pretty loud. There was a candy crane that gave out candy, and the kids, especially Grace, kept checking it. They liked the candy, and kept offering some to RD (who recently decided to stop eating candy for awhile). Cameron was first on their team one game.
When they got home Reese opened up his presents.
We spent the rest of the afternoon playing Fifa 15 on the wii all together, and then they dispersed on electronics and Reese played his new Harry Potter game.
Reese had picked Chick-Fil-A for dinner, so we huddled around our too-small booth and talked about Trump's new policies, and got multiple handfuls of honey packets for kid's chicken nuggets, hands, and faces. We headed home for dessert. Reese had requested just ice cream, which was so easy. I kinda missed the cake, but not enough to make one for me! It was around 20 degrees coming home, and we were full from dinner, so some of us played monopoly before singing to Reese and eating BYU creamery Mint cookies and cream, and peanut butter cup.
Reese has been asking and asking us if he can watch some X-files. I think they're pretty creepy and resisted, but we finally agreed to let him watch the first one. Reese was pretty excited to watch it. RD put the X on the window and spotlighted it with a lamp as they watched it. Reese said he liked it, and wants to know when he can watch more.
It's kinda crazy he's 14. He's so great, and we sure love him!
