"Farm Country"

Back in our college days, we'd occasionally take the boys up to Thanksgiving Point's Farm country, which they enjoyed. Since my sister and I are about an hour apart from each other, we met up at Farm country as a meeting point for us and our two littles. Aubree was very excited to go there, see James, and go on a pony ride. She packed a bag with snacks, at least that's what she reported to me. So one morning we took off.  It used to be out in the boonies, but when I got off the highway, there was a TON of traffic, houses, roads, businesses, and craziness. I couldn't get there on the same road we used to, and it took me more than 10 minutes to go the wrong way and get turned around. Annoying! Everywhere was developed, it was crazy. So we met them there, a bit late.
The kids were happy to go around and look at the animals. Aubree didn't want to touch most of the animals, but James wanted to touch them all, saying "reach!" as he stretch to reach them. He managed to get a hand on  the cow and horse. The rabbits were small and near enough they both felt their fur. Aubree seemed to really like the chickens  and ducks/geese (what?).

It didn't take long for those two to run around all the pens and see the animals. So we got in line for the 'wagon ride', which went in circles around the parking lot. woo hooo.
Aubree had been begging for the pony ride, so we got in the huge line, waiting half an hour for her short turn. She didn't want me to help her or touch her, but didn't want me to totally leave either :) She was all smiles and seemed to enjoy it, but when she got off she said it was "bumpy".

They'd about polished off a box of crackers waiting for the pony ride, but Jules had brought a blanket and we sat down for a little picnic. Aubree dumped out the bag she packed (that I'd been carrying all morning), with crackers, cereal, and playdough... you know, the essentials. She is hilarious.

Apparently she was right though, as she and James played with it during our lunch. James ran around everywhere, and Jules shared some awesome homemade rolls. like, freshly made that morning. rolls made before 9 am?! she's a rock star.

It was an awesome morning!

Naptimes approached, so they took off. Aubree wanted to go see the animals one more time, and we had a ticket for another pony ride. After checking out the ducks/geese for awhile, Aubree emphatically declared how tired she was and she wanted to go home. We were not going to make it through another 1/2 hour wait for a pony ride, so we got in the car. Aubree told me she had to sleep in the car, cause she couldn't wait till we got home. And she did.
I was worried she wouldn't nap afterward, but she went down for her nap like usual once we got home, and slept for another 3 hours. I was worn out too and took a short siesta. It was too much fun for us!
