Kids Fishing derby
The beginning of June there was the annual fishing derby. The wednesday before the derby was a nice night, so we deiced to capitalize on a lake of stocked fish, on a nice night, without a ton of people. Each of the kiddos caught a fish, and Cameron and Grace also had fun trying to feed the ducks bread; they got frustrated cause these ducks only approach the bread after the thrower leaves.
The derby day actually was a beautiful day, and it was packed. Our
neighbor arranged for us to borrow a little raft, which was too small
for all four of them, so they took shifts. While they got skunked for
the third year in a row, they had fun, especially getting to be in the
raft! Reese even helped row. Grace had a great attitude; RD said they
had brought fish crackers for snacks, and Grace would say, I caught a
fish! and eat a goldfish, and continued to 'catch' fish!
