The kids were so excited for Halloween, but it totally snuck up on me. I went to the grocery store the day before Halloween, trying to decide how much candy to get. In the past we've gotten only the cheap stuff, and not very much, cause after all we've been in debt all our lives. Some friends of ours that live in the Coast Guard housing (60 triplexes close together) told us that they spend over $200 on candy, so many kids come there to trick or treat. Other friends who live on a far side of the island never get trick or treaters. We're in the middle, in a neighborhood, but not the main populated area of town, so we weren't sure; I decided on 2 medium and one huge bag. We ended up getting about 50 kids, so we have lots of candy left!!! And we didn't get the cheap sugar stuff that lasts from year to year, so it won't stay good.... so now I feel obligated to eat it all. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet! At least it gives us trading power with Reese and Cameron :)

Every year the road downtown is closed, and the stores are open longer for the kids to go trick or treating downtown. It was so fun to go around town, there were a lot of people, we saw many we knew! It even stopped raining for 1/2 hour while we were out, yeah!!!

The rain started up again as we headed over the bridge to the Coast Guard housing (they had to be a part of that much candy!), so they only went trick or treating for about 20 min, and the boys were done. Cameron said he feet were sloshing, and Reese said his legs would fall off. The poor kids pants, socks, and shoes were all soaking when we got home. It was only 6 pm when we got home, and they had lots of fun getting the door and handing out candy until bedtime (which ended up way later than usual of course). It was a fun night!
