Farm country!

Reese and his camp leaders

The city of Fort Collins has an Awesome summer recreation program for kids, and reduced fees for us low-income peeps, which is great! Reese has had a half/day camp at a local farm this week, which has been a lot of fun for him! He's ridden a pony, watered the sheep, gathered eggs, milked a goat, had scavenger hunts, wagon rides, and lots of fun. Grace and Cameron loved to check out the animals outside the fence every time we dropped/picked him off/up, so on thursday I took them over early so we could check it out. It was awesome! The have the usual couple cows, pigs, sheep, geese, chickens, goats, horses, but Grace was totally into the animals. previously the boys would race through in 10 minutes; seen it, done it. But Grace loved just watching the animals, and would giggle every time she came close to touching one, glancing at me with evident delight. The goats and sheep can be fed, so they loved watching and petting them while I gave them grain.

Grace screamed and threw a fit when we finally got in the car.

Friday we decided to go a little early again, and Reese wanted to stay after his camp, so we were there for a couple hours. Reese discovered the goats like the nearby clover more than grain, and Cameron got brave enough to feed the goats clover himself since they have long stems (easier than grain!). Grace loved it all again. The ponies were tied up getting saddled for some riding lessons, and Grace kept trying to pull herself onto them after patting them.

Finally it was an hour & 1/2 past Grace's naptime, so we left for the car; I thought surely she had had enough of the animals and would be ready to go...

toys, food, cajoling, and her brothers distractions weren't enough to convince her to leave.

I'm so proud of her!!
